Another day of sunshine!! We rode down the coastline about 50 miles south of Ft Bragg and turned inland on a small one lane road that went through a grove of redwoods. Then curved its way up and over the hills to highway 101. This road was amazing, with more turns, dips and switchbacks than you can ask for. The landscape went from windswept slopes by the coast to dark redwood groves. Then it opened up to high ranch land followed by lovely road along the banks of the Russian river. We stopped in the small town of Monte Rio and had a sweet lunch. You know how those lunch stops can be hit or miss. This one was awesome. Great lunch served by a beautiful waitress. With full bellies and scrubbed tires we headed towards the Golden Gate bridge. Pretty uneventful from there. We stopped just south of Half Moon Bay at the Pigeon Point Light House Hostel. We were greeted by a super friendly host and booked in for 25 bucks eack. If your ever this way this is a great place to stay with a hot tub right on the Ocean… I mean its on the clif overlooking the rocks and waves. Today its more Hwy 1 on the way south. The Sun is shinning and its all going on!
Cheers

John and Dan, Your Spot locating map shows the wrong date. Great blog, enjoy the S. Ca warmth. Your adventure really begins at the border.

Hmm...more lean angle. You can never get enough lean angle:) Sounds like a blast. I sooo want to be there.
Inspiring. Here I sit with PMS (parked motorcycle syndrome) and now I am able to ride vicariously through you. Ride on and be safe.

Issues? I don't have f@#*ing issues!
BTW - you guys are late with your post. I know you're in Mexico but some of us look forward to reading about the previous days adventure, get with the program! I'm sure you can find an internet cafe somewhere.
Be safe and have fun.
First you hang for half-dia in a fluff-butt SD mall, then you finishio en Tijuana? No comprende! I knew I should'a paced you at least to Tecate!
I am not far behind; we leave for Baja this Thursday.
Hoik un cervesa for me (OK, hoik dos cervesas, oy!)
Dan, Good luck on your trip! As you crossed into Mexico at Tijuana I guess you are going to Cabo? As organised as you are - you probably know that if you drive up the east coast of the peninsula from San Jose del Cabo there is an overnight ferry from La Paz to Mazatlan which would save you a lot of miles.
Safe driving amigo!
Sun, we had sun in Oregon yesterday. Left for a bike ride up Hwy 30 at 8;30 at a balmy 34 degrees. On Hwy 47 heading toward Vernonia we encountered 20 miles of frost covered road and some black ice. Got home at 5 in the cold shadows just before it dropped back down to the low 30's. Keep reminding us here in the NW what a warm day feels like! Thanks for taking the time to knock out those blog entries.
